Steel Plate Prices

I'm planning on building a heavy duty steel table in the new year. The top will be 4'/1219MM square and .75"/20MM thick.

How much would you guys expect to pay for this???

Just have it sheet width (1250) x 1250, half a sheet then, just one cut, saves a few quid i expect.

he means 4` square wish is just over 1200 mm square,, forgot a zero, from what i know, in ireland, they like selling a full sheet, which is 8` by 4 ` u cud be paying 120 ish pound for a sheet of what you said in 8*4

I paid £570 + vat for an 8' x 4' plate of 25mm last year

A 2x1 was about about £250. By the time its processed, i would expect your 1250 square to be a similar price.

Only one way to find out for sure, give 2 or 3 places a ring next week.

It ain't Cheap, this online quote i've just got from Parkers

There may be places to get it cheaper from, but if you just want the 1 sheet its top dollar

You can get prices online from Parkersteel. You don't need to register just go to checkout and click on 'update basket' to get it priced. They're typically one of the more expensive sources but an easy way to get a target that should be easy to beat when everyone else is open next week

Doubt there'll be a direct correllation but FWIW the sheet of ally is about £13-£14 more than i paid at Aalco couple of weeks ago and it's not like i got a discounted price as i only spent just over £100

Parkers web tool is useful, but is expensive. The two local places I ring for prices consistently beat it by a decent amount.

Our local steel supplier's pretty good to us so I'm hoping they'll look after me on it. Last time I was up there they had a big stack of returned stock that they normally sell for a 3rd of trade as it's already written off. If not I guess I'll have to bight the bullet.


Anyone got any tips for keeping a frame made from 90MM square and 90x45MM tube straight while I weld it?
I was thinking of stetting it all up upside down (legs in the air) checking it's square, tacking it, flipping it over, checking it again and then welding it up giving each joint time to cool completely before I do the next.

I got quoted £440 +VAT for an 8x4' sheet of 20MM today.

I think I may end up going with a slightly thinner top with a little more cross bracing underneath.

the waterboard left one outside of my house for weeks . i complained and it still wasnt removed :so i dragged it in with me tractor and cut it up with a stihlsaw

I've got a rusty one you can have @£240 +vat
