I've just paid quid 44.00 + VAT for 2000x1000x4mm hot-rolled sheet (called 'plate' on the invoice - like most of these terminology debates, nobody cares about the distinction in real life).

That's from a local steel stockholder in Dorset. It was part of a larger (but small) order, and delivery was on top of that. I didn't do any negotiation, just rang them up and ordered.

What thickness does a sheet metalworker down tools and tell you to get stuffed, as the metal is too heavy for him ?

Are the boxes going to be lined with rubber or owt? If not I'd have thought ricochet and noise would be a problem.
