steel lining for sip mig

Hi,this is my first posting. I have been trying to do a bit of welding on my van today. I am using a 90amp Sip mig welder which my dad gave me about 10y old. It has only been used once. It came with some rusty welding wire. I noticed when I first tried it out the feeding rate to be very irratic and slow making welding very difficult. Today I changed the wire to 0.6mm (clean new role) but found I need maximum tension to get the wire to feed. Feeding is still very poor and welding virtually impossible. I am presuming from reading around that the plastic liner needs replacing and I am planning to replace it with steel. Can anyone tell me where I can get one from for my welder? I cannot seem to find any websites that sell one? thanks.

Have you found the page about fitting a wire liner into a SIP? http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/sip-wirefeed.htm It does make a huge difference. Overtightening the wire feed can push the rollers out of alighnent, there's a link on that page for a fix.

They aren't listed in the shop, but phone of mail weldequip and he'll sort you out.

You say you changed to 0.6mm wire, did you turn the feed roller ? I assume you were using 0.8mm wire before. You may be able to blow the liner through
with an airline to get any rust out.

Actually the feed roller was already running on the 0.6mm side. The roller is a bit mucky so I'll give it a clean as well. Cheers!
