I’d go En8 if bending and buckling is your concern. It’s a very strong steel and it machines beautifully. You could buy a length of what ever size is available and have them turned to suit.What material should I be using to make some 35mm diameter bucket pins from?
Some places are recommending EN8 but using hardened bushings, other places are recommending case hardened 4130 CrMo and some places recommending EN24T.

I once had a old school guy who new his materials inside and out explain to me how in some situations hollow can out perform solid of the same dimensions. Just wish i could remember at tenth of what he was explaining.Cut a Ram a while ago, poxy thing was hollow!
Needs to be weldable. So EN24T is off the list.
