At the moment in the front garden, where it faces the pavement I have a low stone wall with a stone pillar at each end and shrubs in between.
I've been asked if I can secure it for our Clumber Spaniels and as it is facing the street (and Clumbers will chew their way through wood!) I'm contemplating a metal structure!
Looking at the various types in other people's gardens on the way back from the station tonight , there seems to be a number of options:
1. Simple square bar welded top and bottom to a steel strip.
2 .Round bar hooped. So you need to drill the top strip and you have a hoop that passes through and back the top strip, welded there and at the bottom.
3. Variations of that theme with scrolls or finials.
I have a hydraulic bender, a vertical drill and a welder. I guess the square bar is the easiest, but the "hooped" version looks nicer.
So can I bend that with my hydraulic bender? Do you do it hot or cold?
I can buy finials or scrolls (not cheap) but cheaper than buying all the kit I'll need for just the one job!
Thoughts please?
Cheers
Peter
