Steel dice

Had ago at making a steel dice,the metal had a coating of black , should of cleaned it up before arc welding it,the edges were I grounded down ,show the black,ha ho

That black coating is mill scale. Not a huge issue when stuck welding, can become an issue with mig sometimes, definitely needs to be gone for Tig...nothing a knitted wire wheel in a grinder won't sorts out

If you have time on your hands, you can cut the pieces and then soak overnight in vinegar to remove it.
