Just a couple of pics of steel banding wheel..this is just a mock up band I did..will have to take the proper bands to my local machine shop to put through a slip roller..View attachment 69919
I have just looked at this idear..yes would be easier as only one weld joint plus it's the correct diameter which means no steel band or slip roller..only down side is drilling out the factory spot welds....Hi, had you thought about Normspanners way and cut the back bit off a second wheel and weld it on the front? It looks like you would end up with the same dimensions and only one weld run, plus with the curves maybe less risk of distortion.

.only down side is drilling out the factory spot welds....
does seam the easier way to go.
What I meant was when I cut the scrap rim I can remove 4.5 inches of the rim .if I cut past the factory spot welds I can gain almost another inch...it gets a bit confusing sometimes with text.PUN intended?
