Steel/ally suppliers, Cambs-ish

I use Mackays in Cambridge but wondered if anyone had another other names within a shout of here, for DIY/counter amounts. I've mentioned them to a couple of guys in fabbing trades and got a bit of sucking of teeth, though I've found them just fine. I've about £250 or so to order, maybe there's somewhere cheaper plus another shop's just always good to know of anyway. Collection is no prob. Maybe Northampton, Bedford, Peterborough ... ?

Thought I saw a doc of suppliers by area somewhere on here, but blowed if I can find it now...

Bedford's the nearest listed I think, 30 miles but have been known to go there for paint. I'll ring 'em up for comparison.

Hi i have a terranno wich needs some body welding for the mot i am near cambridge, does anybody know a good repairer who can fix for a reasonable price thanks harvey

Ringwood metals, they sell on ebay, but you can ring them direct.

Searching for steel, bar/stock or ally bar turns up a hell of a lot on ebay now.

Metal mania seem to have some good prices too.

All these places sell new metal cut to length, so you know exactly what grade you are getting, also if you ring them direct they will cut to any length you want, you aren't tied to whats on ebay.

Ringwood are very good, but I've had no trouble with any of them.

Bit of a delay to ripped up back / off work etc, but got prices from Mackays, the Huntingdon place, and Fowlmere. Fowlmere took a week to come back, by which time I'd dropped a list off at Mackays, and Huntingdon were a little bit pricier than Mackays. In the end I got a very healthy discount at Mackays, so I'm well chuffed with that.
