Starter Vernier

Some time ago someone flagged a decent deal on large starret Verniers. I think a few of us purchased one.

Can anyone remember a more precise date as mine has gone strange and I want to check my emails to see where I purchased them from.

How does a Vernier go strange?

I got a large (12”) starrett digital vernier from their eBay store about about 2 years ago for £70? They also had combi square sets (inch only) on offer at the same time.

How does a Vernier go strange?

Well if you measure something very gently it's ok. If you put a bit of pressure on while measuring using the knurled roller it resets it's self.

It may be battery related if I have had it that long but I have yet to get a new battery.

Both my Lidl one and Aldi one did that. Totally irrelevant to starett but maybe share the same guts?

I binned them as the battery change made no difference.

My Aldi one started playing up after I'd dropped it quite violently. I gave up on it, and just bought a replacement after someone on here mentioned they'd got them in.

Lidl have them from tomorrow (Sunday) along with infrared thermometers..
