you dont have to turn it up all the way ,,, then it would run off your gen set , and still have power in hand when you do get a nice supply ,,,So would it be a massive loss of capability if I went with a xts163 size instead of the xts204 size MMA machine?? I don’t mind getting a bigger machine but according to the parweld site the 204 wouldn’t run off my genny, which in itself is not essential but I’d like the capability
I’m not settled on parweld, just using them to get my head around size comparisons
Give me a clue
That’s good news!! Cheers mateyou dont have to turn it up all the way ,,, then it would run off your gen set , and still have power in hand when you do get a nice supply ,,,
easier looking at it than looking for it.
Cheers mate. So many different options!! That’s why the 4in1 appeals to me.I'd suggest a DC tig inverter - they do MMA too and from what I saw not much more expensive. You can run a tig torch from a cheaper MMA but you lose HF starting, and have to manually mess around with a gas valve which can waste quite a bit.
then if one machine breaks ,,, you have non .Cheers mate. So many different options!! That’s why the 4in1 appeals to me.
Doh, got ya, must be a little slow tonightOne thing that bug is me is people starting sentences with, so

My advice. Just buy one, you will never learn to weld until you buy a machine or go on a course. The 180 would be a good choice to start. And as you develop you can always buy more, better, bigger or just different. Most inverter MIG machines will do MMA The R tech 180 comes with leads for Stick welding
Mig and mma are actually the same welding process, just the way oxygen is excluded is different. molten metal sticking together.Does a 2 process welder exist, mig and mma??
And I thought you knew all the dark arts Slim.
