well the ongoing saga......
the Mrs just bought a Starlink 3 kit.....100euros off yest.....
got it connected and now the down loads speed hover's between 160-180mbs......
were paying for the lower service 29 euros per month....full service is 49.....

when we started here almost 6 years ago.....
we were paying 48 euro's per month for 4 mbs, yes 4 and thats on a good day.....
after a few months upgraded to Vodaphone...
this is a sim card router....
15 euro's per month with 15mbs on a good day but it would drop out certainly 2-3 times per day often for 5mins at a time....and at least once per month u'd loose service for 24hr's.....
were on first name basis with the engineers who seem to be unable to improve things....
Vodaphone now have a new improved service for 22 per month but no garantees and it will slow down after what they say is fair usage.....

SO for the extra few euro's gone with Starlink.....plus extra dosh for the kit......
so if u have probs with ur service provider think about the above....

We have one mounted our house. We have no shelter from the wind at all. It has stood up to gales no problem. Son had one in his old fishing boat, no problems there either. He is fitting one on his new boat and has no concerns about it not being strong enough

Mrs says a gen one is 140 euro's but need to order.....
Just looked on Temu....a rather nice ally one with no exposed fitting is 33 euro's.....

I had an argument with a guest at my place.....about our Elon....yes perhaps he's a bit mad but I googled how many people he employs.....

even if he only employs half that number he cant b all bad.....

remember he can make big money but he can loose it faster when things go wrong.....

Wshop is in a 1/3/meg at most and drops to 6/700 at other times our Starlink hovers in the 180Meg region.
In the last month fiber has come past so are going to see if speed / price are in line with what we need against Starlink

I used starlink for about 3 years without an issue averaged about 150m and was reliable , then under the rural networks upgrade they came and put in FTP bypassing the green boxes and straight to the exchange, so the starlinks now redundant.

But with the copper at the time giving about 1mb when it wasnt wet, and no mobile phone reception the starlink was well worth the money.

We are on Starlink too, mounted high on the farm shed. Two years now, no issues as such, supply's a point to point link to our network for the house and cottages. Its dear but it works.
If you use your google foo and look on the facebook groups there are various mounting options.
