A little job I've been working on, a customer of mine paints lines, mind the gap signs etc on railway platforms and has to get some quite large equipment up and down stairs, he's bought one of these stair climbers, https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=47&v=aeavaxUzjHk but it wasn't quite big enough for the largest machine so a bit of a modification was needed.
First we went to the suppliers showroom with a machine to bodge a temporary platform and try it on some stairs to check the stability of it before buying.
Should have taken more photos of the job, but the existing platform was turned through 90 deg, locked off the adjustment to make it a fixed width and extended the length by 300mm, the ramps are stowed in slots under the platform so that complicated things a little, then a bit of tread plate to cover everything up and make it tidy
Needed some brakes to keep it from rolling about, so fitted a couple of foot operated toggle clamps to push on the tyres, I've since welded a disc to the bolt where it contacts the wheel to spread the load and stop it digging in to the tyre.
And this is what it is going to be carrying, an airless floor painting machine,
