Stahlwork AC/DC Tig machines. Anyone tried one?

Just thinking about where I want to go in the future with my Welding and would like to give TIG a go. I release starting with Aluminium is probably not the best idea but having the capability to weld it in the future would be nice so I'm looking around at AC/Dc options and came arose these

My googling and watching YouTube seems to find that they get reasonable reviews but on here they dont appear to be mentioned much.

They work out at around £700 I think maybe a little more but compared to say the R-tech offering at £1200+ its quite a bit cheaper along with the ability to plasma cut also.

I'm not even close to actually buying anything yet but just wondered if anyone had any experience of them?

It sounds German but it's just Chinese.....prob different paint and stickers as the other stuff in the likes of Machine Mart etc....
There's nothing wrong in gen with Chinese items provided u dont buy cheap and dont expect too much for any warrenty claims...No parts or they disapear....
When I lived in France the Stahl W people used to visit farms and try flogging that stuff....I never bought anything....

I would love a TIG but I cant justify £4000 for what little I do......
I'm sure the sponcer's of this forum might be able to help with a middle price unit.....
and they will be still trading tomorrow....

I looked at stahlwerk when I was searching for a tig...but all the ones i could fine needed shipping for Germany and the price didn't include VAT which put the actual price well above other options for effectively the same machine

My local welding supplier does PArweld so I'd likely buy from them if I got that one.


Like I said just aimlessly shopping around to see whats available and came across a brands I'd not seen mentioned. Googling didnt offer alot of insight so asked here.

I bought a HITBOX AC/DC TIG with footpedal. Around £350 back in January. Plenty of features. As a tig learner it’s been fine and I've managed some reasonable welds. No problems (other than those of my own making/lack of experience) It is Chinese so i don’t expect much support if it packs up.
Don’t underestimate the cost of Argon gas. You’ll get through plenty while learning. Tig welding is a bit of a black art but is very rewarding when it starts to come together.

You use loads of argon when first starting out, anyone should consider the ELGA Optimator reg. A bit expensive but IT WILL save you loads of money on gas and you'll get your money back several times over just on the gas saving.
