The notching head on my miller only has one of a pair of two pairs of gears (I'm guessing the other three fell out when it tipped over and weren't rescued). So I need to make at least one gear, 20 tooth, 12 dp, from what I can deduce. My question is, what material to use for this? I will try the grinder and scraper test on the one gear I have - it looks like steel to me. I have some en40 scrap shaft which is beckoning to me...
Delrin or Nylon not an option - the repetitive shock I think would kill it, maybe cast iron not good for the same reason?
