Sprung Loaded hinge

I am after a replacement Spring loaded Hinge for a photo trimmer I have.



This one suffered in the de-rusting tank. The "tails" broke off.

I have tried to remove the pin and I was hopeful I could fit a replacement. But the hinge pin is soft and is not shifting. Not with out making things worse.



So does anyone know a place were I can get one, or what they are called so I can use Google to find some.


The job of the hinge is to hold the main blade against the fixed blade.

You should be able to search by wire dia, length, no of turns, tail length, material etc which gradually reduces the options down to the one you need. You're halfway there having one to match up with.

I'm guessing you were using electrolysis? I discovered the hard way that it doesn't play well with springs & makes them go crumbly! I've now got a nice set on non rusty M&W calipers without a spring! Maybe hydrogen embrittlement?

This case it was Citric acid.

I have had issues with springs before. But I could get replacements.

They have the spring, not in stock. But if I want I can order by Saturday.
