Is almost here. I remember that London being slightly warmer is about a month sooner than down here.

Noticed that of the hundred or so birch, all except one visible from the house are dormant but the one has a reasonable amount of green already.

Spring travels up the UK at about 4 miles per day

It's been a glorious day up here, bright and calm.

Whins [gorse, to those of us 'darn sarf' are in blossom up here now. Grass has been growing like fury but constantly wet - might have to tackle the sloping half of it if tomorrow's forecast holds up.

Shin splints might put the mockers on that though..... Google is your friend, had them for a 5>6 weeks now, managing to get about but bl**dy sore when walking.

At least here in the Netherlands. Next two weeks low temps and lots of rain again.

we have green tom's already on the plants....just planted cucumbers and marrows....

Just looked at at the camera in the garden nestbox. A female Blue Tit roosts in it all year, except for about two months after the chicks have fledged.

Was empty yesterday, but got about three inches deep nesting material in it now, so she has been busy.

This will be her fourth year. They are only supposed to live about three years on average, so she is doing well. Definitely the same bird, as she has a distinctive mark, and a wonky tail. I always note down when the first egg is laid, how many, when the first chick hatches, and when they fledge.

Managed the grass today, finished it all bar the edge striming which'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Legs still sore, but no worse than before. Needs must though.....

Birch were showing leaf in Epping Forest yesterday, along with the hornbeams.
Hawthorn is showing fair leaf and flower buds....
No stopping it now !

Spotted blue tits flitting in and out of the nest box this morning. Spring now declared at chateau Morris.
