One last thing, are you using airline that has been used previously for air tools? There is always the possibility that the bore is contaminated with oil.

Good luck with the painting, it's these bug bears that spoil the fun of painting, once you've cracked the problem it's not hard to get good results,

ive just bought a three stage HVLP spraying machine, does anyone have experience with these units? i dont have much time to practise before I start work.

What exactly do you mean, is it one of these units with a small blower and then a traditional(ish) looking air hose and gun, or is it something else?

Ah, 3-stage refers to the compressor.

The gun looks like most others I have seen, with less adjustments (don't see a low/high pressure ratio adjustment). I imagine there is a spray pattern control on the reverse side?

i dont know if you can adjust the pressure, its supposed to be a low pressure sprayer, the blurb looks quite interesting and i can spray any kind of paint with it.

used it today for the first time, very nice piece of kit, i will have a lot of fun with this, I'll have the waitresses down here for fake tan in no time

I can change the spray pattern 3 different ways, vertical wide, horizontal wide and round. I'm sure I could get a better gun? but its not let me down in any way yet, except I've been spraying a kind of pebble dash effect ceiling and the gun is heavy when the pressure pot is full.... my shoulder is killing me, still it beats a brush ANY DAY

Is ther no width control on the pattern? Mine has a control for pattern that you set to 0 for a round pattern and rotate nozzle for horz/vert pattern.

i can control the width/size by screwing in/out the rotating ring surrounding the pattern selection control

yeah it is, the Q4 model is more money but I figured it wouldnt be needed, and i was right this thing does everything i want from it, if you had one, you would use it and you would love it...

it can spray ANY kind of paint, cellulose, laquers, varnish, poly, oil based, water based, stains, anything.
