I was pleased with mine till I used it for clear coat, it sprayed heavy at the bottom so I got lines, a pig to get rid of.

YOU sprayed too heavily, not the gun! Putting on too much lacquer will often cause sags like that as it is trying to go off, but gravity is pulling the weight of it before it can.

It's been mentioned earlier, but it's less about the gun and more about the correct set up, tuning and technique. I only use devilbiss GTI Pro lite guns for base and top coats because I can justify the prices.. Doesn't make a better job necessarily, just better made. The jobs I've put on this site are produced through the use of so many factors. I'm very privileged to have a decent oven and air supply but mostly experience and a lot of muscle memory. As a footnote. Bubbles and microblisters can be caused by a myriad reasons but have to be completely removed then sealed with a quality epoxy primer (not mastic) before any subsequent prep or refinish. When I first started bodywork, pretty much all primers were wet flatted, as fine open coat papers were not available. This was a major cause of blisters I see when clients bring their classics to me for restoration.

I should have said darker bands, about 3 to 4 inch wide over what I considered perfect gold met base, a test spot spray on cardboard showed more paint in the bottom half of the pattern

Lacquer is trickier I think. I was really pleased with the top coat when I rattle can refurbed my alloys but the laquer went on much thicker and my inexperience meant I didn't know when to stop lol.
