Hi guys , after some advice really. A couple of months back I thought I would refurbish my own wheels . I bought a 50L compressor and a Nielsen HVLP gravity fed gun . To be honest I impressed myself , used 2K gloss black , HB primer and 2K clear coat with some silver flake in. It was great no issues.
Anyway my issue , I thought that was straight forward so was asked by a fried to spray his bumper . Not a problem I thought , so off and bought the star silver 3 basecoat , thinned it using 2k thinners 50:50 and using approximately 35psi commenced spraying. Now my issue I dont get a nice smooth finish after a few coats , its as if the paints too thick and a giving a rough looking finish. Being a novice I really dont know what this is called , its not an orange peel , its as if the paint is not coming out evenly spitting everywhere. I have the dial on the side set so its more a direct spray than wider spray. But still I am at a loss , has anyone any ideas what I am doing wrong?
As its a metallic silver I dont think I have wet sand between coats , again I am not sure.
Thanks in advance.
