Hello, is spray transfer when the sound changes from 'bacon frying' to a steady hiss?
If it is, is it a good or bad thing? It has been happening more frequently with my Sealey Turbomig 170, 0.8mm wire and Argon 95/5 gas.
Thanks
I wouldn't have thought you'd get that machine into spray transfer but I could be wrong.
More likely it's going into globular, does the wire ball up at the tip?
If the wire is clean then it's possibly due a torch service (new liner and tip).
If it's happening as you're welding then the wire speed is probably slowing down, making it too low for the voltage selected.
As well as trying the above also try turning your volts down or your wire speed up, if you are welding material thinner than 5mm or so I wouldn’t weld it in spray
Thanks for the advice. New tip going on. How sensitive is the torch lead to being trodden on? I'm clumsy with my feet, I seem to have no control over them! Could that have damaged the liner?
It's an old school welder, only controls are power, 1 to 6 and wire feed. I'm plug welding 1.5mm sheet to 2mm sheet.
