Well the latest with the bumper is I bottled it and got the chap over the road to do it. I need to run more welds on stuff that doesn't matter before I take on something that large and structural. Apparently on things of that size I've been moving too quickly. His technique puts down a very pretty weld too, so I won't need to grind it!
He had a look at what I've done and pointed out the lack of fusion straight away. I can't remember what he called it now, but it was along the lines of the filler metal just sitting on the surface and not mingling with the bits that were being welded. I need a deeper chamfer and less speed.
