spray paint cans over rollerd on paint?

The disco was annoying me after I had to replace and repaint one of the panels when I had an encounter with a fence when I first got it it never looked right really .. so I just thought f it one day and rollerd it all matte black ..

I then had a euro car parts van reverse right into the other wing when it was parked denting the panel but not even affecting the paint so tough stuff.

But the rollerd on paint isn't very smooth/and has roller/brush marks so I was thinking of sanding it down a little till all the marks are gone then giving it a coat or 2 of spray paint out a can (decent brand) to smooth it all out .. then a clear coat of some sort.
One can did 3 layers on the front wing I did from white to dark red so I can't imagine I'd need much doing black on top of black.
Would it hold up ok like this?

I'm not after some showroom paint job, just something a little less bodged 18 year old land rover after all

Btw I don't have an air compressor other than my on board system ...

you would have to flat it right back if you want smooth, spraying on top of any texture wont hide the texture, the paint will simply follow it

chances are the rattle can will make the other stuff frazzle up

not something many of us would reccomend , but if thats what you want to do then try out a small panel to see how it goes

very true with the amount of thinner in there and we don't know what paint is on there

Hi, Try graffiti paint, it dries to a satin finish and is quite heavily pigmented so covers well, Just google graffiti paint.

Plus of course you will be down wiv the kids.

Neither do I tbh w.e the local paint shop gave me that was brushable .. I probably have the tin somewhere ..

The dented panels going to have to be replaced anyway so I'll test it first on there.

I wouldn't if I was painting it from scratch but it already has 2 maybe 3 layers of rolled on black as it is ..

Tbh I bet if I hooked my on board compressor up to a gun it would run ok
Probably not the best idea to idle the car as I'm painting it though lol.

Seen loads off vans that have been rollered and tbh if you put in the work flatting back between each coat it comes out ok to what you would expect off a £500 blow over but only costing £100 in paint paper etc plus your time
