Spray gun problem

I just bought an HVLP gravity feed spraygun with 3 different nozzles. I went to fit the 2.5mm nozzle I need. The one on there as standard is jammed solid. Rounded the spanner supplied trying to take it off.
Amazon jobby so got a replacement - exactly the same.
Is it me or was it just put on too tight?
Left hand thread or normal?

Only bought it for spraying Jotun 87 AL - or treacle in other words

Use a better spanner and belt it with something to shock it loose

Chances are it was fitted whilst the powder coating was still warm.
Tickle with a bit of heat - soldering iron or hot air gun - just to soften the paint a bit.

I would have thought it was a right handed thread but should be able to work it out from the other nozzles

I bought a similar looking gun off Ebay and the nozzle was very tight on that. Ended up clamping the gun in the vice and using a ring spanner, didnt think it was going to budge but it did.

use a 6 sided spanner or put it in the vice , those spanners arent fit for anything

The fluid tips look very similar to the ones in my thick primer gun.
A ring spanner doesn’t fit and you need a very thin open ended spanner.

If it that tight try a bit of heat and / or grind an open end to fit. At least it won’t be made of mild steel.

Have you removed the fluid needle and spring first etc.

Then just pair of mile grips and admit its going to get knackered!!

The hex is in a groove 3mm wide, the wrench is made of cheese....

i had that problem with a similar looking gun. i managed to get a thin walled socket on it and rattled it off with a impact.

brutal, but effective.

Sockets won't fit - the nozzles are round with slots cut in - and yes 3mm.
Just mangled the thing. I will keep the other one and send this back.
Why are they so stupid - why screw them up so tight? No need at all.
I will have to mill a spanner to fit now - gggrrrrrrrr

Nothing to grip it is round. I even put it in the 3 jaw chuck on the lathe - no joy.

maybe its just crap lol...normaly theyre tight but come undone with a decent tool

Hi Fizzy, the solution is to carefully file 2 opposite slots to give 2 flats then clamp in a vice, but don't overtighten. if it wont undo then heat up the gun around the nozzle, its ally and will expand more. around 100 deg C should do it. then it will undo. one word of warning - putting too much pressure on the handle may result in serious damage so play safe and use a big adjustable on the body just behind the nozzle.

I was given two[new unused] fast mover guns. They were painted/coated. The thinners I cleaned
them with took some of the paint off! I wouldn't use one without stripping and cleaning
it, both the guns I had had oil and swarf in them.
