Spotted today........

Was sitting chatting with a neighbour today when a Chinook flew past just above roof height of the house(s) below and on this side of the Kyle. Thought it could be heading for the range at Cape Wrath as we see them sometimes if there are NATO exercises on.

Heard the noise of the rotors later and managed to grab my phone for a quick snap as it passed back, but heading away from me.
A poor pic but hopefully you can make it out....

We regularly get them come over quite low. We had two B52s come over the other morning, my god they do make a row!

Had a chinook fly over us while visiting Dunster castle yesterday. Nowhere near as good as last week when I was in my garden, and heard a merlin like noise. Looked up to see the BBMF Lancaster flying over the end of my road! It had been at Blackpool airshow and was flying to Whitby with a flyover of Woodford and then back round Manchester airport hence over my house. Fantastic!

We’ve had all sorts of oddness like that the last few weeks.

Ospreys keep putting in an appearance. They come up from south, do loads of circuit and bumps in Kirkwall airport then off south again…..

They frequently fly over Broxbourne Herts and I always expect them to fall out of the sky.

I've been working in Arizona for the last week and a bit, close to Luke Air Force Base. Lots of F35 flying low level, slow, fast, wheel down/up, in pairs, singly . . . Good to see, as over 20 yrs ago I was involved in designing and installing production equipment for them in several facilities in the USA and UK, but it's the first time I've seen any flying.

They were very low over the A350 as well.

Watching a thing the other day about how Lockheed bought four Yak 141s I think it was for (again I think) $400M. The F35 takes design cues from the Yak & Harrier.
