just fitted 2 in a restaurant kitchen last week they did have 2 x 6ft twin flouros in . the new ones are single and a lot more light

fitted 15 of those 600x600mm flat panels to a mates and the light off them is near twice the light out put (as the older ones last half there out put)

Can't recommend these Ansell lights. (Actually made by 4lite for ansell)

Casing is thinner than a paper bag, took first light back due to a crack in the translucent diffuser casing.

Inspected second light in store but even that has a fine crack once i got it out in the workshop.

The stainless clips are paper thin, due to the lack of rigidity in the whole thing the baton can literally flex/twist, and as such on pulling the clips down there are gaps along the foam seal.

Shocking quality, i know £60 isn't a lot of money for a light fitting, but this is £10 more than the screwfix LAP version, so i expected a bit better.

All that i find online seem to be much of a michness. Makes you wonder what's actually fitted in factories/industrial settings like power stations etc, where the light is exposed to moisture and stuff.

What cable are you guys running to your battons?

I've got some sort of white pvc or flex at the minute, i'm wondering if i should be using rubber? Given the damp nature?

When i worked at a nice workshop, if I remember correctly it was small armoured down to every light.

For sort of drip or splash proof I would think you could run "Hi Tuf" NYY-J with glands at the fittings. Exterior rated and a bit like SWA but without the armour.

I moved the light fitting next to it, an IP20 rated 6ft single tube by a company called Xcite.

Fairly sure this was purchased from CEF 4-5 years ago.

Gave it a clean and it's still just as bright as the brand new LED twin.

Obviously not gonna be great outdoors but it's lasted well in here. I think i will buy two more of the screwfix and two more of the Xcite and see how we get on. that will be 6 battens covering about 10 meters x 9m.

I bought replacement LED tubes a few years back, they were Philips and I thought better paying a wee bit extra for a known name. Utter garbage, were not any brighter than the fluorescent I had replaced and two of them would flicker every so often.

A few months ago I got so sick of them I bought some integrated battens, first ones I got from Screwfix and they are good but flap in top for wiring was a PITA, I got the rest from Toolstation and they are just as good light but better design for wiring.

These are the ones I got and very happy with the lighting from either but would buy the Toolstation ones again over the Screwfix ones.

Xcite is part of Tamlite one of CEF's in house manufacturers.
They are good quality fittings, that should last well!
Those above and JCC are two of the few manufacturers I will fit due to not getting call backs except for repeat business!

I might buy some more of the Xcite but they are pricey. JCC, saw those on CEF. I'll have a gander.

I need another 4 lights at least to light two bays in the workshop.

Furthest at the back is the New Ansell 6ft twin.

Furthest at front is 4-5 year old Xcite.

One facing other way is screwfix cheapy, £30 a few years old. Now looks blueish. Useless.

I've just ordered an Ansell baton 6ft twin from screwfix to try.

5 year warranty so see how it goes.

I have the Ansell Tornado Pro and really like them. They have a 7 year warranty and Im sure I was paying around £45 from local wholesaler but I'm sure they've gone up.

Screwfix sell the standard Tornado not the Pro which don't have the same output.

They are well made unit and they are "anti corrosive" which seems to mean water proof. One thing worth noting is with my first batch I had to supply my own glands and drill holes, I think this is done to make sure there is no uneccessary leakage points.

I would never have put Tamlite in the same sentence as good quality unless things have move on?

^^^^^^^They have upped their LED game considerably! And come with at least 3 year if not 5 year guarantee!

Tbh I have never had issues with Tamlite, fitted hundreds of their fluorescent and sodium fittings over the years and had very few failures.

With the Xcite fittings the high output versions are super bright, bit more expensive but worth it for the output!
I have done a few workshops using the 6ft high output ones and the customers have been very pleased with the results.

I've often wondered if it is best to be senile and active or physically incapacitated and with an alert mind. Given the option. Or a bit of both.

I fitted 2 x square LeD lights. I guess they are the 600mm ones. I had planned to use 4 but 2 is bright enough.
