Spot Welding Mesh to 6mm Rod

Hi All,

I have purchased a second hand triangle spot welder - please see image below:

I plan to use the spot welder for welding 1" gauge wire mesh (2.5mm thick) to 6mm steel rod so that the rod forms a strong frame around the mesh.

Ideally I would like to be able to spot weld more than one wire of the mesh at once which is all you can do with the standard types of tips I've seen.

Being able to weld about 4 or 5 ends of the wire in one go would be perfect and save so much time.

What I need to know is do tips exist for such a job and if so what is the proper name for them. If anyone could point me to any sites that sell anything suitable this would be great!

Never heard of or seen any tips for that on portable welders, they are normally used on pedestal welders or purpose built machines for shopping trollies etc. and you would need a lot more kVA (power) output than your erlder could provide.

I'm guessing from the photo is difficult to see how big the spot welder is.

The welder is a pedestal welder (15kva) and is about 5' tall.

The tips shown in the photo above are 1/2" thread diameter and the rods that the tips screw into are about 3/4" in diameter.

It is a water cooled machine and I've just purchased a cooler for it. All I need is these tips (if they exist) and I'll be up and running.

What I'm really after are tips that are in the form of two rectangular blocks e.g. 5" x 1" x 1". The bottom block would ideally have a 6mm groove along the length of it in which I could sit the 6mm rod. I can then position the mesh over the rod and the top block would come down so that 4 or 5 strands of mesh can be spot welded to the mesh in one go.
