Spot welding attatchment

Well iv got to put some sills on my car and after searching ebay for a spot welder i saw an attachment for the arc thats described as a single sided spot welder.

I have tried to do a search on them buy i cant really find much info.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried one and what the results are like. Please dont answerer just saying there great or there rubbish, iv got a mig and arc, but i wanted to spot weld the sills on instead of plug welding to save me a bit of time cleaning the welds up after and to try and make things a bit neater.

Any feedback would be great.

They are a carbon arc attachment, just a poor variation of plug welding, not proper spot welding, If you have a mig i would stick to plug welding. the results will be better.

You mean a single carbon arc thingie. I tried one it seemed ****e, they used to give them away with 30 quid stick welders.

A good plug weld will look and be just as effective as a spot weld, and done properly with a little practice will not require any dressing up afterwards. I have done both mild steel and stainless on panels down as thick/thin as 0.025" with excellent results.
