Tested ok. Very oily inside plus lots of swarf. Someone was overly generous with the lube!

My donkey saw had a hoover motor which I had to dig the starpoint out.

Ok. After staring at the motor for a while, I THINK I have found the Star point.
It is at the 'top' of the motor. Opposite side to where the wires are which goes to the connection plate.
Can somebody please confirm there is only one place in a motor where three wires meet?
What do you think of the photo?

I think that Hoover motor I rewired was actually my first. I have since gotten a bit better with the process.

Why did Hoover make a 1/4 hp motor to run on 415v 3 phase ?
Seems a might bit overkill, but maybe this motor was used in shops that only had 415v 3 p ?

is this for the purpose of re-wiring to delta so you can run lower voltage?
I would love to do this with my lathe so it would work better of the VFD, currently using the trick with a lower frequency, it works ok, but if i want to get anywhere fast i have to fire up the 3 phase genny and give it 415v!
