Splinters

My wife is a nurse so I always have a syringe needle around and they have a chisel point on them which is good for cutting around the splinter and getting them out. These needles are in a plastic holder so are always clean. I sometimes look to see if they have any germs on them but I have never seen one yet ! Failing that, leave it in there and eventually it will get infected and then just squeeze them out !

Metal splinters? Luxury! Best splinter i ever had was an oak one, I got it while raking a garboard seam out of an old boat. The seam rake slipped out & my hand scraped down the side of the keel, a splinter went in under my second finger nail & came out at the first knuckle, about an inch and a half long.
I was already sitting down under the boat & called to my oppo, "can you bring me the pliers", he bought them over & went white when he saw the splinter.
I got hold of the fat end & whipped it out quick. Didnt half smart i can tell you.

Urine is good for toughening the hands up, cheaper and easier to find than four star.

Pallet splinters are good for getting infected.

I find that a pair of arterial forceps are really great at removing those tiny little metal splinters that always seem to get stuck in your hands.

bronze slithers don't infect unfortunately I had one in finger for 6 month and went to hospital they couldn't see it even with xray a month later after some more digging and blood I prised it out with the corner of the blade digging deep in
