first cut should also be made backwards i was told. not sure why but it works on laminates and ply and work tops
The blade would be cutting downwards.

as apposed to what upwards?
Yup.
Tbh. If your blade is sharp and has a decent tooth count and the splinter strip os in good nick full depth cuts are the order of buisiness.
Quite happily cutting laminate worktops from above Thursday and as clean as a routed edge in one pass.
Banding on and job done.
If you have to run the saw backward to score stop being tight and buy some new consumables.
Will say I bought some makita splinter strips to test as there cheaper.
Now know why there cheaper and will return to the festool strips.
Worth giving them a try mate.5m rolls on the bay.I have makita saw and rails so should i invest in festool strips?
i will give the festool strip a try it needs replacing I use saxon blades too great stuff for the £Worth giving them a try mate.5m rolls on the bay.
There a lot harder. V important to clean the old adhesive off wih isopropyl or similar with the fes stuff.
I use saxon blades. 30 notes for a 24 48 and 60 tooth. Cheap enough to swap out reguarly
Let me know what you make of them mate.i will give the festool strip a try it needs replacing I use saxon blades too great stuff for the £

Swear the mak strips shrink on the rail too. Being soft rubber its possible.
When you trim the fresh fes strips. Slowest motor speed and a 5mm deep cut initially with no stock under the blade.
Thats the stuff.always a 2-3mm cut with my saw first well not always lol but there is a button for that
is this the strip?

it better be good its 4x the price of the makita strip!Thats the stuff.
Try it full depth no score mate. Never needed to and was primarily fitting laminated fitted bedrooms when I bought mine.
Yup. Thats why I tried the mak stuff last time. Did have a cheaper source but it dried up.it better be good its 4x the price of the makita strip!
Every month at least when i was working laminate everyday.how often do u change the strip on yours?

1 rail was kept for mitre cuts as it wrecks the underside for 90 cuts.
Usually had one In good nick and used it for mitres when it gets ropey. Mitre one then replaced with new for good. And kept rotating.
These days I keep spare strips In the box amd replace when fitting kitchens etc.
For ply/mdf it really doesnt matter if its a worn strip.
i need spare rail then!
And a couple of joining rods.i need spare rail then!
And a couple of joining rods.
If you have a load of ply to rip its invaluable.
Rail clamps are great if you need multiple passes.
See. You have already managed to justify the purchase.i do i hate cutting half way then moving the rail along to finish the sut on full sheets
