Spatter free: no visible spatter. Maybe a very small pit sometimes, but rare.
Requires a good wire feeder, a constant torch angle, gap and speed. I always get some when welding in awkward positions or cant see the joint well.
Helps to be in the center of the wire speed range. I tend to stay in the lower end. I never went for the set wire feed until it starts pushing back then let off. I normally run just where it maintains a consistent buzz. The upper end tends to spatter.
If it needs more heat, up the voltage and adjust speed again. Helps to have a infinitely variable voltage. My MIG has a big crank you adjust about 30 turns.
