Evening all,
I repair machines for a living but have been asked to have a look at my local train station which is being restored to measure up for a spiral staircase.
Having never done one can I ask what kind of regs do I need to consider ie, amount of steps needed, how to fix it and also what kind of calculations are needed to get the spiral right?
They want me to provide channel section for the stringers with angle iron welded on for the steps as these are going to be made from wood. Also, the centre of the staircase is going to be an old cast iron type lamp post, will this cause an issue with welding to?
I am going to see the job at 3pm tomorrow so will come back with pics and measurements tomorrow night
Thanks
Dean
