I don't like flying insects...so as long as spiders don't develop wings I'm all good with them .

They usually get trapped in our bath...I either get them out or just do the loo roll trick.

There is one that builds a web across my door mirror and it’s still there after a 60 mph drive. Are webs aerodynamic?

I suspect that thy are not truly round but slightly ovalid as it comes out the spinners gland .
Spiders produce liquid silk through small structures on their abdomen called spinal tubercles, which help control how the threads move. When the liquid silk touches the air, it quickly hardens into a strong thread, allowing spiders to build their webs fast.

Way out away from any form of civilization or wood land by several miles I've often seen small spiders being blown on a gentle breeze letting out spider web . Never seen any out over the sea or along the immediate shore/coastline .

How long the silk strand was I do not know ., it might have broken off at some point and as the spider fell to earth & kept spinning it acted like a sail to carry it afar

I have a spider who lives in a knot hole in the bathroom skirting board. Been in the flat as long as I have, (either same one else its kin). Daft bugger got itself trapped in the bath, the other day. Was just setting off for work when I noticed it there, so placed a length of bog roll over the rim & down into the bath for it. It was back in the skirting when I got home.

This is it.

That's a penny it's straddling. The penny slipped off the cistern cover, the other day, & the spider shot out of the hole when it hit the floor.

I have a small storage unit on the Wales / England border (the wet bit of the country)
When I got it 5+ years ago the roof at the back was letting in water, the roof and back walls were damp, the front was the only dry area and had spiders living near the door.
The unit got new roof & felt 2 years ago and has been drying out nicely since..
Now it's all dry and the spiders are multiplying like rabbits - the big ones have been building decent sized webs between the roof joists

my crane is kept in a yard virtually under the m4 bridge (i refuse to call it the prince of wales bridge), some of the spiders growing on that are bordering on fearsome...when it broke down on me yesterday i was just looking round it and if i didnt know better, i would have thought the one was a female black widow...it was identical, and i mean more identical than a false widow...by the looks of the hole it came out of it has been there a while and was getting a reasonable supply of food. ive also got these false wolf looking things that just wander across the winscreen or roof screen as and when they please and 1 web that looks suspiciously like some sort of trap door type affair although very likely just the remnants of one of the many orb weavers that are there that has moved on or been eaten and the web has got blown about and tangled up
