She did talk a load of nonsense about cadence braking and locked wheels
So if you've done a few awareness courses they are obviously not working. Or you would not be sent on them again.

Do you recall what. I've only needed to cadence brake once, in Portugal, it was very effective.
I do, she was trying to tell me that a locked wheel will slow down a car quicker than a braked wheel.
is that not because they're for people who have been caught speeding, not for people who have been caught driving badly?
I appreciate people have different views on speeding, but I don't think anyone is offended by someone doing 75 on an empty dry well lit motorway
Clearly she was confused by limiting and sliding friction.
I do, she was trying to tell me that a locked wheel will slow down a car quicker than a braked wheel. Was never going to wash (my day job is in Aerospace wheel, tyre and brake research!) and I did take her to task. Not at the time, not the place, but I did write to them afterwards.
Interestingly, 4 years later when I did my second SA course, there was no mention of the subject.
Quite! Not only slowing down, but with a locked wheel you loose steering.
Part of the problem is modern cars....in the old days if you wanted to drive fast you needed driving skill. Now with modern computer trickery someone who is clueless can drive a 2 ton car at speed and rely on the car to keep them safe...
But the problem is....when they invariably get themselves into a pickle they have no clue what to do!
There is a difference between speeding on an empty motorway at 2am and driving down my road at 40mph (limit is 20mph!) on a school day!
if you had an escort van that was high speedI did trade plating back in the day and had some nice cars that had the cobwebs blown out. 70mphwas a slow speed

Until you hit them.
