Hi I have bought the 9100xx lid last week.
Very disapointed with quality, feels cheap and flexible like a £80 lid and not a £300 one! Lets hope that it performs better than my first impressions of it!
I bought the Miller but considered the speedglas,
Common reviews on them was that the cheap and flimsy headgear was the let down on what is apparently a good mask.
I've used my 9100XX day in day out for about 3 years now and absolutely love it. I wouldn't want to go back to a welding helmet without side windows at work and the large viewing window is great too.
Cheap and flimsy? Maybe. But compare the 9100 to the 100 and it isn't cheap and flimsy at all. Quite a few of the other guys at my workplace have the 100 and seem pretty happy with them. I've had a look at one and think they're a great little helmet. If I need to replace my other automatic helmet that I use out of work, I will be replacing it with a 100.
I think it really comes down to the amount of welding that you do in relation to the investment in a helmet. If you are an occupational welder, it is a good investment, and like myself you can also get the respirator mask pack that you just swap the viewing window into. Otherwise, I think that the 100 is a cracking little helmet and good value for money.
