speedglas 9002D

Hey guys
Got a speedglass 9200D
It keeps failing on me
Have replaced the batts and visor on front
Have cleaned the sensors on front also
Still no use, It,s 5/6 years old but shouldn,t be Broken
or do they have a life span
I keep it an insulated cabinate that houses other tools to protect them from the cold and moisture

I use a Miller Elite and its a nice bit of kit and the best in my opinion, my spare helmet is a SWP Eliminator and for the money is excellent value and i use a magnifying lens in it, about £65 online

I think I will just go and buy another one and keep this one as spares

Johnny, Speedglas themselves don't really rate the 9002D for TIG use. They describe it as suitable for use above 20A, click on 'view speedglas welding filter guide' but it doesn't really have a wide enough sensitivity adjustment to make it trustworthy- the 9002v/9002x models only work properly with the sensitivity set to 3 or 4 with TIG. Model line up is different now, any of the 9100 range is suitable, of the cheaper 100 range only the 100V is suitable for TIG

Think i,ll keep the speedglass for the mig and get sumten for tig
Have been making S/S sheeptroughs
Have 30 to do just 5 left, will knock them out 2moro in time for xmass
Got them cut and folded by local company in 2mm
No pickies can,y upload them pc illiterate

Went out thismorn and got up some waste switched on mig and started welding with the speedglass on no probs watsoever. So will look for a new mask in new year for the tig machine, Ya live and learn eaghh

I also use the Miller Digital Elite, it even has a electromagnetic detector which I use that mode all the time, it will activate the filter as soon as it detects an arc, other wise it has 4 sensors. No probs with it and works well, just make sure you get into the habit of checking that it is still switched on if you put it down to do something else as it turns it self off if you don't use it for 10-15 minutes. Once you get into that habit then you don't have any issues. It was annoyingly frustrating at first but now it is second nature and no issues.

You can use the speedglas 9002D for TIG but only above 20 amps...Is it working like it should now Johnny?
