Hey,
I just bought a Speedglas 100V auto darkening helmet. Its a new range (just a few months old) from Speedglas, and comes at a quite attractive price. Mine was 150 euro ex VAT from my welding supplier. It can be found a bit cheaper on Ebay etc, but my supplier threw in a pack of extra shields.
I haven't used the helmet yet. According to the shop it works good for TIG.

It uses batteries in stead of a solar panel, 2 sensors, 5 shades etc. Enough for a hobby welder like me. I hope it works better at low currents than the Chinese helmet i have now.
A search in the forum for this new Speedglas returned nothing, no one here yet with this helmet?

The highly-affordable Speedglas 100 welding filter has excellent optical quality, reliable light-to-dark switching, and can be used with most arc welding processes, such as stick (MMA), MIG/MAG, and many TIG applications.
The easy-to-use Speedglas 100 is the ideal “first” auto-darkening shield for hobby welders, farmers, DIY types, and maintenance or construction workers
who weld infrequently but can benefit from the ability to always clearly see
with their welding protection in place.
Single or Variable Shade Filter
The Speedglas 100S-10 and 100S-11 filters have single dark shades of 10 and 11, respectively, and a light shade of 3. The Speedglas 100V filter has five user-selectable dark shades, from shade 8 to shade 12, and a light shade of 3.
The Speedglas 100V filter also has three Sensitivity settings: a normal setting used for most types of welding (both indoors and outdoors), a setting for when other welders are working nearby, and a setting for low-current or stable arc (e.g. TIG) welding.
