Both my passport and driving licence were due for renewal at pretty much the same time. When I renewed the driving licence it pulled the photo from my old passport, so new licence has the same photo as the old one. They want an up to date photo

Be good if the crittical components in the systems control box was a simple plug in turn key to lock it in place and operate it . On leaving the vehicle unlock and remove the unit .No but the insurance company or manufacturer should. Just like the stolen car insurance market. They all just seem to accept it is happening and pass on the cost in extra premium.
But if the stolen gps was made useless there wouldn't be an international market in stolen goods reducing the price for everyone.
And how many would do that? Not many used to do it with easily removed and pocketed radio fronts in cars.Be good if the crittical components in the systems control box was a simple plug in turn key to lock it in place and operate it . On leaving the vehicle unlock and remove the unit .
The cynic in me says why would Mfrs be truly invested in theft security (apart from enough effort to prevent brand negativity that is)?Be good if the crittical components in the systems control box was a simple plug in turn key to lock it in place and operate it . That's exactly it. Same with cars, manufacturers don't care cause they'll sell more replacements, insurance companies don't care cause they'll spread the risk across all premiums and as a bonus those (un)fortunate enough to have something go walkabout think the insurance companies are great with instant replacement. The cynic in me says why would Mfrs be truly invested in theft security (apart from enough effort to prevent brand negativity that is)?
After all - if a machine gets stolen - it means the operator needs another one, right?
i took mine out and carried mine in the plastic case and i still have the front cover and back unit with the 6cd multi playerAnd how many would do that? Not many used to do it with easily removed and pocketed radio fronts in cars.
I bet even now, my great uncle would still be tying ignition keys into tractors, combines etc with baler twine so he didn't lose them.

its because farm gear is exclusive and highly expensive its either go to them or forget itThat's exactly it. I had to surrender my license when my MND was diagnosed, but the same week I received a letter telling me my photo had expired. So even though the license was valid for several more years the photo needed updating. The photo has a tiny date stamp on it if you look closely. Both my passport and driving licence were due for renewal at pretty much the same time. When I renewed the driving licence it pulled the photo from my old passport, so new licence has the same photo as the old one.

all that proved is both systems are sharing your data without consentBoth my passport and driving licence were due for renewal at pretty much the same time. When I renewed the driving licence it pulled the photo from my old passport, so new licence has the same photo as the old one.
Government agencies don't need your consent to share your info between their government departments /all that proved is both systems are sharing your data without consent
though it does make me wonder how much more data is being shared without users consent
though they are pushing uk towards photo id and many systems are using it more so with the new age verification
banks wont open accounts without a mugshot driving licence and a lot of other places wanting idall that proved is both systems are sharing your data without consent
