if the sign says 30 i stick to it if theres someone up me a.rse trying to hassle me i go slower then back to 30 just to let them know im not having itWhere I live it's all 20mph...I generally do "around" 20mph unless I have someone tailgating me in which case I always do slightly less than 20.
Does anybody who's being tailgated actually go faster I wonder...I doubt it.
Sat nags use satellites to measure the distance between the two points on the surface of the earth . They do not take into account the undulations of the road nor the bends & cambers that can make using them for that purpose pointless unless you are on really flat ground The speed trap stuff is amazingly accurate if calibrated correctly as it is visually a straight line of sight , unless of course you get caught by average speed camera set up's
My 2p worth? For a first offence, just take the points. Three points makes no difference to your insurance at our age IME, and the course and the fine cost about the same. But the course is three hours of your life you'll never get back.
Radar doppler-based speed cameras can be fooled into false triggers. Typically things like cooling fans, or vibrating metal panels, or stuff flapping on the roof, or rotating bicycle wheels. The laser based cameras need to be consistently pointed at the same spot on the vehicle, usually a number plate, to get a reliable reading. It can be quite difficult to consistently aim an invisible, and relatively small laser spot at a distance, with only crosshairs to go by, especially if the vehicle happens to weave to avoid a pothole, or bounces up and down, during the measurement.

Is that a recentish change ? It was a few (<5 years ago I think). She is one of the younger generation so would have done it online if I recall. Think there was small print on the orignal paperwork.
