Speakers for the workshop?

Thanks to whoever they changed the DAB system so now my much loved planet rock radio station has been lost

Well until I just got this:-

Needs WiFi though, do have HiFi in the workshop, but thats fed via my Sky oh and this... for the MGP

You can see I work hard right

I would have said pc speakers are around 16 ohms compared to the house at 8ohms and 4 ohms for the car

the speakers used in suround sound systems are in the range of 8 to 16ohms

ive got an old pioneer system for the workshop and plug in via the aux socket on the back connected to the ipod

though it dosnt stop me from playing it loud as i can do

pc speakers with a amp on them you need to set the sound to low to high and it can blow the amp system as well as your player as ive done this before ion a sony cd walkman and high powered stereo as it cost 75.00 just to get the sony walkman reapired again the stereo was replaced by another

Trying to drag this thread back on track....

I've got a pair of Kef Coda 3 speakers in the garage, with an old pioneer amp & squeezebox networked to the house, sounds fantastic (for a garage) and easily loud enough to drown out the grinder as well as annoy the neighbours. Speakers were £30 from cash converters, amp was my 2nd ever hifi amp & squeezebox was £50 off fleabay.

I had one of those projectors but sadly it stopped working and I dont know where to get it fixed..

I have an old Sharp music centre in the garage circa 1979, got it out of a skip. It drives a pair of 30 watt Sony speakers the same age. Still sounds good, now if i could figure out how to get an input from the small dab radio into it so it would play planet rock it would be better.
Other good thing is it has a 6.35mm mic jack socket in it so i can plug my cigar box guitar into it, real nice tone.

My old technics amp has been serving up sound in the workshop for well over 20 years, it has four old memorex speakers, it all came from Tandy (Radio Shack) years ago. If I were setting up again I'd think you'd get one or similar for peanuts, got to have some good sound to get over the grinder haha

Oh cost of the Internet radio, it was £136 online, it's a Roberts Stream 36i, has a build in sub woofer, GREAT sounding radio and puts out much more sound than you'd expect for its small size, also has USB socket for MP3 playback, AUX input and zillion channels of online stations plus FM and DAB. Remote control and can also be streamed to from a PC etc. I only want Planet Rock...lol

Just out of interest I've just looked for planet rock on my DAB radio and it's still there
