thought I'll move it ..thread jackers
I've change careers now part time carer for my sisters husband who has alzheimer's an hour each day 7 days aweek.
I'm 60 next year so at my age I doubt if I'll ever get back into a full time welding job. packed it all in last year(took my redundancy)had enough of full time work over 40 years and seeing friends popping their clogs before they retire and I don't want to join then just yet
so most of my welding is hobby now but I work nearly 4 days a week making rails/rack for various bikes.some p/coat but mostly chrome.I never considered myself to old to learn there's always some thing new to learn,
bending tubing I taught myself. I've been making these for several years now and built up a good reputation.I'm more than happy to learn even if its a young lad to show me how etc. just because I'm an old git doesn't mean I know it all
here's some pictures of what I make as for welds I will post up later...
1975...... i wasn't even born yet in that year!
But you're right, i see a lot of welders (i get the chance to teach some apprentices sometimes) who are "welder" but most of the time don't even know the basic welding stuff...and sad but true most of them don't even care!
It's really awesome when you find someone that actually listens and shows interest in what you are trying to explain! Doesn't happen alot tho!
Are you still welding for a living or is it for hobby now?
Yes, please do post your pics! looking forward to discussing it with you!
