Hey guys, been trying to get a spare key for my partner van but the problem I'm having is the van has a donor ECU,BSI,KEY from another vehicle. I phoned a few citroen dealers plus citroen key specialist but they won't entertain me without the donor vehicle security code which I do not know. Is there anyway around this?

A dealer can obtain the code but would need the VIN No. of the original donor vehicle, so you are probably stuffed, as said above, use the original chip and just get a couple of aftermarket keys cut, you could even conceal the old transponder chip inside the steering column trim, it would downgrade the security but who would know?
Yep logbook won't work as parts are off a donor van, I don't even know the VIN number from the donor either doh! Taping the transponder chip to the ignition is an option I never thought of. Good idea I never thought of timpsons if I could get a cloned key for that price I would be delighted.

Problem is no dealership will give you a key with the vin off a donor vehicle due to legal documents which the owner had to sign and also the technician coding the key has to.
Basically there's nothing stopping someone going to a scrap yard, buying said donor ecu's and keys ect and stealing a vehicle.
Your best bet is another set of donor parts or ordering all ecu and spare keys to chassis number on your vehicle.

Right to the root of the issue!
The reason it's has a new Ecu BSI Key is because it had BSI failure. I sent the BSI off to BBA Reman and it couldn't be repaired. That's why it has a donor set from another van. Will be popping to my local asda midweek there is a timpsons will see how I get on.
There will be a way round it, there normally is. It may require an independant Citroen specialist who has the kit to interogate the ECUs.
I have Land Rover diagnostic that will do things Land Rover will tell you are impossible. They tell you can't use a second hand key for Disco 2 but you can, the company who make the diagnostic kit can decode the donor key from the numbers on the chip and give you the code so you can program it to the vehicle, obviously you need to get a new blade.
They will also tell you that you can't use a new key on D3 unless it was ordered again the correct chassis number, that is also complete tosh.
I think the biggest issue you will face with main dealers when ringing them is the fact that it sounds suspect. You would probably have better luck if you took the vehicle to them and said you needed a key and didn't mention the fact it has a different module. That way they dig around and sort it when they find the key doesn't work and fix the issue.
It's not beyond the bounds that any car will be running with different modules than it left the factory with, this can happen on cars that a few months old

I was taking the **** out of a mate with this, he has a newish bmw and one of the puddle lights has blown, told him if he swaps it the car won't start and will throw an error code up, until he goes to the dealers and pays £400 to have the bulb coded

We (well I) was actually repairing the exhaust flexi as the new part was £800!!
He hasn't done the bulb yet
