Being the first manned launch from the United states in many years it was called off today due too bad weather, which i dont blame them for but we were sailing past cape Canaveral at the alotted time today so a bit miffed i didnt get too see it.

You are meaning the challenger incident i suppose, yes you are right in some ways but they only put the breaks on it all after that as there was a civilian onboard at the time, if it had just been the usual crew of fighter pilots, test pilots and military avation engineers then it would have been, they died honerably in the service of thier country, (ie they knew what they signed up for) space missions would have resumed the following monday. Know quite a few ex RAF/fleet air arm guys who all say thats what would of happened if it had been the RAF running the show. Not that it was right if they had done that the safety of it all needed looking into but it probably put space travel back by about 30 years that short stoppage.

Not sure I agree on your assessment of the Challenger disaster - i remember watching it live on the telly and yes it was shocking because there were civilians on board but it wouldn’t have been any different had there been purely military people on there. Not to mention the amount of money and effort that went up in smoke I think it’s inconceivable that they would have just resumed flights without a full enquiry and knowing the root cause - the fact there was civilian on bird had very little to do with the outcome.

I read it was west. Apparently you would have seen ISS about 15 minutes before, but I didn’t get out there in time

It was too light to see the ISS last night but there's been some super bright passes lately.
I think tonight is the last bright pass over the UK until July.

Just downloaded an app called satellite tracker has a countdown on it and shows exactly which direction Iv set an alarm to make sure I don’t forget it

Was watching it live on youtube ready to go out to have a look when they scrapped it, only 16 or so mins to go, must be a pain for the astronauts after sitting in the thing for as long as they do, better that than going bang though.

Does anybody know what it will look like, will it be just like the ISS or the starlink things or will a trail of exhaust be visible too?
