Space heater for railway arch workshop

Hi guys,

I've recently moved into a railway arch workshop to expand my exhaust business but have a few questions.

I've started painting the concrete floor but after about a day the paint is still the same. Hasn't really dried much.
The problem is, is that the property is about 1400 sqft and is really cold with very little sunlight.

What I am thinking of doing is purchasing a diesel powered space heater to help it get going and also to warm me up a bit in the winter time.

Would the cheaper one be up to the job or should I just go for the more expensive one?

I have a clark xr155 which is 150,000 btu they recomended 2 of these to heat my workshop which is 2000sq ft x 16ft to the eves but I only use one. I hope you have deep pockets as they are expensive to run.

I'm really thinking I just need it to properly cure the paint.

I had that with floor paint once thought I was getting a bargain all I got was a pain in the head. Dont think there was enough hardner in the paint took over a week to dry managed to cancel the cheque but was no compensation for not being able to work for a week. What type of exhausts are you doing?

Yeah I've anticipated that it will take a long time to dry but just want to speed things up with a heater that's all.

I'm doing custom stainless steel tig welded manifolds and exhausts.

Be aware that ant heater run off parrafin will give out a lot of moisture. So vent well.

it will combustion will result in water vapour. Probability less than Propane. I would guess (after wiring a couple) that the arch is damp so an industrial dehumidify might be a good way forward

I went to the workshop tonight and found to my surprise that the majority of the floor paint was touch dry. It's still slightly soft so will probably wait 3-4 days before I start walking on it (just hope it holds ok).

Regarding the damp issue, yes the arches are damp. It seems there really isn't anywhere the water vapours can go, so they kind of just cling to the arch. I'm not sure if the dehumidifier will so this issue though.

I will still get a space heater and just make sure the shutters are wide open after prolonged use?

also beware of flooding from the track above mate had to make a inner roof for the arch he had in Leeds to keep water off the cars a big dehumidifier is a good idea also keeping any electrics well off the floor big giveaway is electric sockets in arch's if they are 6 ft up the walls worry about flooding a good old fashioned wood burner/coal/coke or pot bellied type stove will work well in arch's for sucking condensation out check with local laws on what you can or can,t burn
