Yes, the deposit is fully refundable and has no time limit

I see you do a 5%/95% CO2 / Argon mix, do you do a 25% / 75% blend ?

I am very new to welding, but I hear that for general welding of mild steel, 25/75 mix is good ?

Feel free to correct me as I am most likely wrong

Hi , That is an interesting thought. The difficulty would be getting all the distributors to agree , I will give it some thought.

Great to see the hobby welders of Northern Ireland being looked after too. Rent-free gas is generally pretty hard to come by here so it's good to know we have some choice (prices look pretty good to me).

I used to deal a lot with Fyfes when I worked in the motor trade and always found them really good to deal with.

Alan, one question which I could do with an answer to;
Is the deposit amount fixed by you or are your distributors free to set their own deposit amounts?
I ask because I have one of your 20l 5% mix cylinders and according to your price list the deposit is £60 with no VAT but I was charged £75 + vat.
As it's the deposit I'm not overly bothered as long as the same amount gets credited back if I return the cylinder but just as an example, if the supplier decides they no longer want to distribute your cylinders and I have to return it via yourself or another distributor I'd like to make sure I would get the full amount I paid back, not just the amount on your price list.

Hi ,

The distributors do have a lot of discretion about both price and deposit , as most of these companies are large businesses you should be ok with the deposit , however it might be worth keeping your receipt for the deposit in case of difficulty in the future . We will always sort out any problems over deposit refund.

Just ordered my 20L Mig gas from around the corner, to arrive on Monday
They only supply Argon in 9L bottles apparently, so will have to phone around and may have to travel to Bournemouth or Yeovil fo 20L.

I can now get on and finish building my blasting cabinet.

Hi ,

Any 9 litre bottles about are old stock . Any of the Dorset Autospares branches can supply either 10 or 20 litre bottles . If they do not have stock at the branch it is available by inter branch transfer from their head office in Wimborne.

Hmm he did specifically say that he cannot get the 20L bottles (for pure argon). The first question I put to him was "are you a dealer for SouthWest Gas Supplies?", I did find it a bit odd when he hesitated for a moment and then told me that he can get the gas in. He didnt say Yes to the question of whether he was a dealer for you or not.

Feel free to PM me if you want to investigate it further.

20 litre pure Argon bottles are a new product for our range and are not out to all the distributors at the moment , but they are available by special order.
