Hi everyone. I’m having a devil of a job sourcing a piece of steel tube for a project I have (remaking the driveline for a vintage Land Rover capstan winch).
I literally only need a tiny bit (400mm would be more than enough) but am struggling to find anywhere in the UK to buy it. My local stockholder doesn’t have it and even the online very expensive places haven’t got it listed.
the tube I need to replicate is 14.3mm ID, 20.7 OD... which given its age (1960s) I think translates to 9/16ID, 13/16OD and therefore a 10SWG wall.
the OD isn’t too critical - I could go larger but the ID is fixed.
does anyone known of a supplier I might try? Happy to buy a bit more than I need to get to a standard length. Thinking that maybe model engineering suppliers may be a better bet and still using imperial measurements.
thank you!
