Source of wheels / castors to run on scaffolding poles ?

Was thinking about this in the shower this am, as you do - I have great moments in there and thought about the trip hazard with the rails, but as pcw has suggested making them into handrails which would solve that issue if you've got the space.

I only want the shed to slide, say, 18" - 24" so the rails won't intrude far outside it's "normal" footprint. Seeing the garden slopes and these rails will be off the ground the intention is to cover them with detachable decking "shelf" so it makes a raised platform infront of the shed with tubs of plants on top. The decking will therefore only need to be lifted off (simple wooden blocks screwed underneath to locate) and some sort of security bolts on the rails removing for the shed to be ready for sliding. Rather than manual heaving the intention is to use my PortaPower ram for the actual moving

If your going to be using a prtapack to push it does it need wheels or would a couple of hardwood blocks with a grove cut in it do?

How about using gate hardware to roll on, rails, wheels etc all available for reasonable cost and designed for this job. I'd use a small electric winch to pull it.

Another good idea - I'll look into sliding gate stuff. Already got a couple of electric winches so another aspect to think about.

I would not bother with the winch - you are still going to have to push the shed back in place, so unless you already have a winch on a 4x4 you can get in front of shed, you are only halfing you work for quite a bit of expense.

Edit: If you had something to attach a farm jack too in front of the shed, that would do the job a lot cheaper and it can push and pull.

What about a space saver wheel from a car - these are quite narrow - give your local salvage yard a ring, I would bet their is no real market for them and you could get them for their price in scrap then use hubs from a suitable car, but then it is how you attach the hubs to the shed.

Keep in mind of you do use space saver wheels, your shed should not travel faster than 50mph!

How are you going to stop the wind getting hold of it and moving it along or off of the rails ?

Will have loop around the pole under the wheel to it's only lift maybe 1/4". There would be provision to bolt the movable aspect to the fixed frame when in normal postion to stop it being blown forward.

I was looking for a wheel also for scaffold.

The best I came up with was 2 wheel at 90 deg.

you can buy wheels for this, but cant think where from right now
