Source for thick green scouring pads?

The things that are on the back of kitchen sponges. Or for keying paint etc.

Ideally id like it just in a block, around the size of a kitchen sponge, but without the sponge, but, whatever i can lay my hands on that isnt a thin sheet will be better than a thin sheet!


I need these for shaping lime work, and cleaning deposits off stone, by hand.

Thin pads wear though almost straight away.

Scotchbrite pads? More expensive but they hold up very well. Red is rougher than green.

I usually get my green pads from Poundland. They're slightly larger than a kitchen sponge-scourer.

Don't count on the colours, different manufacturers use different ones to denote the grades.

I don't know anything about blockwork but I'm not sure a really thick block would be much use?
I understand that the thin pads might wear through really quickly on something rough like stone but, on smoother surfaces they go blunt/flat and stop working. I'd think a thick block of the stuff would be lasting about the same time before the outsides were usless.
I suppose you could redress it/cut it off somehow but that sounds like hassle..

The thickest ones I have got are some 3m ones about 1" thick, far courser than a green sponge but a lot harder wearing.
You can dunk them in a bucket and Rinse them out to unclog them. Any thicker I think you would struggle with rinsing them as well.
Aside from being thick they are quite large so might be hard to grip?

I might be reading your post wrong, are you looking for SB the width and length of say a car sponge but not the thickness of a car sponge?

More ideally, the size of a car sponge and thicker then an average SB pad?

I realize now that maybe people thought I want the 5mm bit.

What I mean was that I want it in a block around the size of a kitchen sponge (which is, what, about 30mm) but with no sponge.

Ie I want a 30mm pad. Or whatever. But not a 5mm slither that will last a few moments.

it just wares though and then you get some "Christmas" decoration of holes

(ive never had it on a roll, but ive tried folding the thinner pads that you use for paint work before)

Its not easy to explain fully, but they would be too hard. Same as a wire brush would be too hard.

The pads are just about right but the thin ones fail too rapidly.

I had some thick ones knocking about here from years back which were good but they're gone now.
