Top pad needs to be 10mm dia and 2.5in long, the bottom one 10mm dia and 2in long, so if I could cut it the 250mm length on ebay, it would be more than enough, the 100 mm length not quite long enough for the 2.

OK. So longer than any endmill. If only one end of the pad needs to be square cut, the bought one will do you well and you can be as shaky as you like cutting the other end freehand. Depending on how smooth they come, you might be able to lap them better by poking through a hole in a piece of wood and rubbing on a diamond sharpening stone. If they are as rough as a field, they will wear the bandsaw blade.

A diamond wheel however ideally not the sort for tiles and ceramics as they are slow cutting with a low diamond concentration, and being coarse it would like using a chainsaw to slice bread!
I have used these sort although you can get bigger diameter ones. I've used them to slice up large 22NR lathe threading inserts

O1 needs to be heated to cherry (non magnetic) to quench it and alter it in any way, if you get it that hot sharpening or working wood with it you are definitely doing something wrong.

Yes, and the tip of a wood cutting tool narrows down to a very fine point, so it can get hot quite quickly even while the rest of the tool stays cool.

I've bought from them in the past and I agree they provide a good service. As far as I can tell though, they don't sell HSS.
