Some one please help me with my welder!!!!

I have a Lincoln gas mig welder 220 it use to work great and then it started acting up, every time I go to lay a bead down it leaves little bubble welds that break off right away what can be causing this? It welds the same weather I have the gas on or off, I have the correct spoil in the welder the gun is going to the positive and ground to negative, what can be causing this? Heat Is all the way up and wore speed is almost at 2 anything hire and the welder just starts spitting any help would be great thank you

Sounds like there is no gas getting to the gun. Check the solenoid clicks when you pull the trigger and that there is gas flow at each point.

I agree ,
Open the feed roll tensioner so it does not feed the wire hold nozzle by your ear and pull the trigger ,can you hear the gas coming out ?

When I hit the trigger you can hear the solenoid click and the gas come out

It sounds to me like the liner is damaged somewhere causing the wire to stall. Is it feeding at a good rate with some resistance against the work piece? (try a weld without the earth,) it should push your torch away.

Have you got good flow of gas. Might be a shot in the dark but the steel you are welding isnt contaminated with grease or anything is it, that will cause the weld to fuzz up

If you have a meter then set it to DC volts, back off the wire feed, clamp one lead of the meter to the earth clamp (the meter NEG lead) then putting the meter POS lead on the tip. Set welder to lowest power setting and pull trigger. note reading on meter. Do same for all the power settings up to top setting. You should have about 12V ish on bottom and about 20v ish on top. If not then you have a power issue.

Or Poor connections on the torch cabling or again where this goes inside machine.
TAKE CARE when delving inside if POWER IS STILL ON!!!

Argon

I assume that's an Argon / CO2 mix not pure argon from a TIG set.

I would check the hose from the end by the wire feeder to the tip have seen loads broken at the gun end or where the lance meets the welder allowing the gas to emerge anywhere it can, it sounds like it is right but you are only getting a small amount where it is needed actually coming out of the shroud

money to burn ay? probably something very minor causing the issue on the other, as mentioned before was that pure argon? or argon co2 mix?

It's argon and oxygen mixed, for 75 bucks I couldn't pass up such a sweet deal especially for a Lincoln arc welder

what percentages% what colour is the bottle. Maybe post a photo of the bottle and label.

should be argon80% CO2 20% or Argon 93% CO2 5% and O2 2%

you don't want any more than that as O2 content. apparently its in there to make the molten steel flow better.

this may not be welding gas if it has high O2 content. the symptoms you see are like welding with no gas. With no gas there is N2 and O2 present at the weld, causing the porosity in the metal.

In the US it will be 75/25% Ar/Co2. Sometimes called C25.

We don't do tri-mixes here much; most places don't even carry it..

The color does not mean much as each company uses its own color.
